Success Mantra
जे उ संगामकालम्मि, णाया सूरपुरंगमा ।
ण ते पिट्ठमुवेहिंति, किं परं मरणं सिया ॥
-Shree Suyagadang Sutra | Adhyayan 3 | Uddeshak 3
Essence:
What will happen to the warrior, who is at the front runner of valour, after the war? The after effects are never thought about. The courageous believe, what more can possibly happen beyond death?
Interpretation:
Everyone wants to be successful in life. But success is as vast as the ocean. Some can only watch success from afar, whereas some come till the shore and stop, success will touch their feet and return. There are only a few who can immerse and swim in the depths of this ocean. What should be our mindset to succeed in the materialistic and spiritual world ?
Bhagwan Mahavir enlightens us by explaining, the one who wants to be successful will never get demotivated thinking of negative consequences before trying, that what if I make efforts but not succeed?
A warrior will never think about what will happen after the war. The one who spends a lot of time imagining the future consequences, can never make the most of their present. Success comes to those who stay firm. To awaken our conscious, Bhagwan Mahavir further states that, it not easy to attain success. But brave is the one who faces all the obstacles with mental strength. Fear is the one factor that takes us further away from success. For the mental strength and morale needed to overcome this fear, this gatha illuminates, ‘किं परं मरणं सिया!’- What more can happen than death ?
Jain Aagam summarises that the one who is ready to face death is valiant and courageous, and only he can be successful.
